1930s Los Angeles California Mount Baldy Ice House glossy RPPC real photo postcard California winter landscape view of Mount San Antonio - commonly known as Mount Baldy because of the absence of trees on the summit – an impressive 10,000' mountain located on the border between Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. Shown are hardy winter sportsmen sledding on a snow-packed San Antonio Canyon Highway heading up the mountain on the way to the Ice House Canyon Resort. On the lower border, an identifying caption is printed in white ink.

Ice House Canyon and San Antonio Canyon are still known for their popular hiking trails in the Mount Baldy area. The Ice House Canyon Resort, built in the early 1920's, was destroyed by fire in the mid 1980's.

Chloride print (sepia-toned) glossy real photo postcard, and collected unused by a Connecticut couple on an extended touring vacation through the West in 1937 – and only recently removed from their vacation memory album where it has been for over 70 years. Published with the imprint of Frasher's, Inc., of Pomona California. Photographer Burton Frasher, Sr. published real photos of Western views and Native Americans. He and his wife Josephine opened a photo shop in La Verne, California in 1914, and moved to Pomona in 1920. Card has a DOPS stamp box imprint, which indicates this postcard was published sometime between 1925 and its 1937 purchase. Postcards with white borders surrounding the image usually were published prior to 1931.

This standard-size unused glossy postcard is in great condition, with no tears or bends. Some lightly soiling around the edges from handling, but the image is not involved. Corners are good, with only very slight rounding.
