c1925 German color chromolithograph “Vogelshau” (birds-eye-view) of Langenargen and “Umgebung” (vicinity) along the northeastern shore of Bodensee (Lake Constance) in Germany - with a close-up view of Langenargen’s Schloss Montfort (Montfort Castle) inserted the lower right. Lake Constance is located on the upper Rhine River near the base of the Alps, between Switzerland on the south, Germany on the north, and Austria to the south.
Postcard-sized card, but back is plain-backed - contains only a handwritten German list in pencil. c1925 date is estimated by reference to postmarks on other German postcards in the same album as this card. Artwork is signed with the artist’s studio name "Atlier [Studio] E Felle Jsny".
Montfort Castle is a lakeside palace built for King William I of Württemberg in 1867. Up the coast is Lindau, a Bavarian town built on an island. At the end of Lake Contstance is Bregenz across the border in western Austria.
PHOTO NOTE: Quality chromolithograph card. The photos distort the clarity of the images and sometimes the intensity of the colors. The muted "grainy" look is largely a distortion. The clarity is greater when viewed in person. Minute defects are exaggerated by the scanning process, and some are virtually noticeable when viewed in person.
CONDITION: PLEASE EXAMINE THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY.
In excellent condition for its age, but not perfect. Postcard-sized, but plain-backed. No tears, folds or creases; rounded corners may be slightly blunted and edges lightly worn.
