1890s Victorian birthday greeting card appears unusually somber - a boy in formal American Colonial dress holding a small envelope, to which the recipient's name (?) and "Saint Louis" has been added in black ink. The image is surrounded with an ornate spiral border on a black background. The back seems unusually somber for a birthday greeting - an ornate Victorian vase and flowers design on a solid black background.
PHOTO NOTE: The scanning process distorts the clarity of the images displayed, particularly in the gallery view. The muted "grainy" look is definitely a distortion. The clarity is excellent when viewed in person. Slight creases, small blemishes, minor defects and light soiling (in any) are exaggerated by the scanning process, and much less noticeable when viewed in person.
CONDITION NOTE: In excellent condition for its age. Small spots of scuffs and color loss here and there in the background, mostly on the back. Rounded corners have some wear. Those flaws visible in the pictures are much less noticeable in person.
