Howdy Doody Ice Cream was one of the many sponsors of the Howdy Doody television show through much of its time. T he premium list says it was manufactured “under license from Doughnut Corporation of America.”

The original Howdy Doody TV show, was created by “Buffalo Bob” Smith who was the star real person performer on the show. It ran for over 2300 episodes on NBC from 1947 through 1960, and originally was the first show of the broadcast day. Stars of the show included the puppets Howdy Doody, Heidi Doody, Major Phineas T. Bluster, Dilly Dally and Flub-a-Dub. In addition to Buffalo Bob, other live characters included the silent Clarabell the Clown, Chief Thunderthud, and Princess Summerfall Winterspring. The live audience of approximately 40 kids sat on the set of the show in a section known as the “Peanut Gallery”.

The front page of the premium list features a big picture of Howdy Doody and Clarabell holding a large orange “Cream Ice” bar, together with images of the six different Howdy Doody Ice Cream product wrapper bags which could be collected and exchanged for the toy prizes listed inside. PHOTO NOTE: Small defects are exaggerated by the scanning process, and many are barely noticeable when viewed in person. The photos also distort the clarity of the images and sometimes the intensity of the colors. The muted "grainy" look is a distortion. The colors are often more vivid and the clarity greater when viewed in person.

CONDITION NOTE: PLEASE LOOK AT THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY. Booklet is in excellent condition. No tears or folds, and only a few small spots, stains, and fingerprints – all visible in the photos provided. ALL DEFECTS ARE VISIBLE IN THE PHOTO.
