It is not often that rings by the London based GRAFF come up for sale. When they do, it is something to get excited about as they are world renown as the best cutters of yellow diamonds in the world where only the very best diamonds ever make it to their cutting table and shops. This particular ring is no exception and would make and extraordinary engagement ring or a perfect statement ring.

The ring has at its centre an emerald cut fancy light yellow diamond of 3.09 ct, VS2 in clarity (engraved on the shank), and is accented on either shoulder by 2 white triangle shaped diamonds totalling ca. 0.50 ct, I-J in colour and VS in clarity. Set entirely in platinum, this ball of fire might be simplistic in design, but you cannot take your eyes off it. You just want to keep looking at it. It really is a magnificent ring!

The ring is a US size 5 3/4: UK size I; Euro size 51.

The ring is engraved with the Graff name and identification code "GR35523". Hallmarked 950 for Platinum

Made in the late 20th or early 21st century, the ring is sold in very good condition with only the slightest signs slight signs of wear

GRAFF History

Graff is a family business and the people who enter our stores and buy our jewels become part of our family. They buy what we love: we love our jewels like we love our children; they are very, very special to us and we strive to offer jewellery pieces that will last forever

There is a story that Singapore has a special place in Laurence Graff’s heart. As a young entrepreneur, he was passing through the city when he met a friend who had been tasked to set up a jewellery section in a local department store. Graff happened to be carrying a briefcase of gems at the time that he was trying to sell, and the friend ended up taking them as stock for the store. They sold out, and became one of the many stories that led to the now 57-year-old jeweller cementing his position as ‘king’ of the diamond world.

He’s come a long way from his early start as a 16-year-old apprentice to starting his own business at the age of 22 and now, as the chairman of Graff Diamonds with his CEO son Francois, presiding over more than 50 stores worldwide, with one in Singapore opening recently. The senior Graff built a solid reputation in this business by obtaining, cutting and polishing large diamonds. To ensure a steady supply of the best quality, he acquired a stake in the South African Diamond Corporation (Safdico) in 1998, which subsequently bought land in Botswana, where he built the Diamond Technology Park in 2008. Recognising Botswana’s role in the diamond industry, he was able to connect and control every facet of the industry through the park. According to him,”If you want to be successful with diamonds, you have to get as close to them as possible.” Graff adheres to the Kimberley Process, never knowingly buying or trading rough diamonds from areas where this would encourage conflict or human suffering. The majority of Graff diamonds are laser engraved with unique Gemological Institute of America (GIA) tracking numbers, which whilst invisible to the naked eye, allow for their origin to be traced

With some of the best diamond cutters in the world, Graff is able to tackle challenging pieces from diamonds to coloured diamonds, the latter said to be the most complicated and trickiest pieces to work with. Its philosophy of pursuing perfect beauty even landed them in controversy in 2010. At the time, Graff acquired the historic blue Wittelsbach-Graff, but shaved off four and a half carats because he was determined to improve its clarity and transform its colour and clarity from VS2 to Internally Flawless – the highest diamond grade and the pinnacle of perfection in the diamond world.

Laurence Graff has handled more important diamonds than any other diamantaire of our time, possibly of any time.
