A set of 2 porcelain "mansion dwarf" figures, circa 1900. They are done in the style of Derby's dwarf figures but they are unmarked. I believe that they date to pre-1900 since they do not have the country of origin that was required by the McKinley Tariff Act of 1891. The figures have great detail and color. The male figure is a hunchback with distorted facial features including a rather large nose who appears to be presenting a small bunch of flowers. The female also has distorted facial features and appears to be protesting something with mouth wide open and a raised, clenched fist. The female stands 4 1/2" tall and the male just over 4". They are both in excellent condition with no chips, breaks, or repairs.
