An antique Italian majolica plate, circa 16th or 17th century. It has the colors of blue yellow and brown on a buff white ground and a ocher colored ring around the rim. The tin glaze has a twisted floral design of flowers and branches with the faces of two jesters and a rabbit emerging from three of the buds. The plate is in very good condition with only some minor glaze nicks around the scalloped edges. There is considerable glaze wear on the base as shown in the pictures. The only mark is an ocher colored "J" within a circle on the bottom. The plate measures 9 3/4 inches (25 cm) in diameter and 1 inch high (2.5 cm).
