DESCRIPTION: This vintage Alice Caviness Bracelet & Earring Set is of sterling silver, made in Germany. The unique design is intricate featuring delicate scrollwork with a center florette: 7 identical square pieces are linked together to form a bracelet with interlocking and safety clasp. When closed, it’s nearly invisible. The bracelet is remarkably strong with a thickness that adds durability and further exemplifies the fine manufacturing of this piece. The matching square clip earrings are a perfect match, and can be worn on pierced ears.
Alice Caviness was a former fashion model who developed her own line of fashion jewelry in the 1940s. Her early designs featured silver filigree bows, lovebirds and flower baskets with a nod to femininity and nostalgia to help lift spirits during World War II. In the 1960s, she and her head designer, Millie Petronzio, designed prototype crystal jewelry but the production costs were high and the line never fully developed. Instead, the team created other lines that combined mother of pearl, goldtone metal, enamel, moonstone, rhinestones and crystals for luxury retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue. Her pieces made in Germany were of sterling, are hard to find and are highly coveted!
WHY I LIKE IT: When a fashion designer lends her (or his) talent to jewelry design, the outcome is brilliant. This set is stunning and unique.
