DESCRIPTION: This antique Celery Dish from Tirschenreuth (P.T.) , Bavaria, Germany is graceful. On white porcelain, the piece features elegant florals (violets) with fantastic leaves of varying shades of blue and green. The floral design is perfectly set against a pale green background on a porcelain blank of contemporary shape. The celery dish is rimmed in gold to add a finishing touch of elegance. This charming piece is signed by the artist, Rene’ and is a combination of transferware and handpainted accents including the gilt.
Please note: the pale green background is 'challenging' to photograph and appears much lighter than actual. If interested in this beautiful antique, please request additional photos.
I’m often asked how a celery dish should be used in a moderne table setting. The artistry of these pieces are intriguing as a stand-alone votive holder next to your florals. A celery dish will nicely present fresh baked dinner rolls or dessert breads; a medley of grapes, cheese and crackers; appetizers; and of course … celery, carrots, and snap peas with a dip.
Why I like it: The contemporary shape is very moderne and the florals capture the essence of timeless beauty.
