DESCRIPTION: On white porcelain, the Z.S. & Co. Creamer & Lidded Sugar are of generous size and finely decorated by the artist, Babcock. With upswept angled handles, the antique set is fantastic. The matching Mayonnaise Set with underplate and serving ladle perfectly matches the grouping. Together, this trio will accent very nicely with moderne formal or informal china or you may purchase additional pieces found within our shop.
The Creamer & Sugar are round with an 8-panel fluted shape that is beautiful and streamlined. The design features a trio of yellow daisies on each side and accented with green leafs. A very impressive amount of gilding is used to create defined edges, with a ½” powder blue border. The handles are uniquely shaped; the creamer handle is larger to accommodate easy lift.
The Mayonnaise Set boasts the same design and colors, with a shimmer of iridescent lusterware inside the bowl. The gilded ladle adds a beautiful contrast.
From the Zeh, Scherzer & Co. Porcelain Factory, founded in 1880, in Bavaria, Germany and operated through 1991.
PLEASE NOTE: These items were part of a collection, of the same pattern and design, that we curated together. All pieces are available for lot sale in our shop; please email if interested in purchasing all or multiple lots as reduced pricing will apply. We separated the collection because the 'blanks' originated from three countries (Japan, Germany & France) and collectors may have a preference. During the era, when porcelain china pieces were broken/chipped through use or travel, replacements were ordered and handpainted on demand. The 'blanks' used by the china painting company were sourced as available or contracted.
WHY I LIKE IT: The 8-panel fluted shape is unusual, and the generous gilding contrasts nicely. It is so rare to find a matching mayo set to include with your tablesetting and it’s a piece I often use to float a rose, hold a tealight, or fill with after-dinner mints or chocolates.
