This stunning set of ten cabinet / dinner plates is a fine example of Limoges France artistry. Made for the high-end company, Loring Andrews & Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, the design is perfect for spring and summer dining or as a curio display backdrop.

On white porcelain, medleys of bright florals in shades of rose, lavender, violet and white are featured in the center of the plate; and accented with a thin gold circular border. Similar florals appear on the plate outer edge and on rim, a 1/16” green border adjacent to a substantial ¼” gilt border with tiny geometric design. The plate is embellished with handpainted accents that bring the florals to life. All of the plates in this set show loss of rim gold from either display or age.

Why I like it: The design combines my favorites: colorful florals, a touch of gold & elegance, and the reason to host a memorable summer luncheon al fresco. When I showcase plates such as these (to everyone's delight!) I select a menu that eliminates utensil marks, typically serving a lovely variety of tea sandwiches and separately plated fruits & salads served on modernware.
