Vintage Empire Demitasse Cup & Saucer Set, England ca.1940s-1950 - image 1 of 9

DESCRIPTION: Made and HandPainted in Stoke-on-Trent, this is a lovley demitasse set.

From the Empire Porcelain Co. (1896-1967), Staffordshire UK, the earthenware features contemporary florals against a pristine white porcelain. The design is painted in shades of blue and accented with an abundance of platinum accents found on the leaves, stems, and border. The cup has a fancy handle and both pieces are brilliantly glazed to accentuate the colors and pattern. A fantastic demi cup and saucer set!

WHY I LIKE IT: The pattern is of interest, platinum accents are perfect, and the cup handle is an unexpected detail.

BACKSTAMP(S): Empire England (in black, in green)

CIRCA: 1940s-1950

DIMENSIONS: Cup 2-3/8” plus ¾” handle x 2” h. Saucer: 4-1/2” dia

CONDITION: Very Good. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. Manufacturing anomalies exist (tiny spots of platinum skip; minor scratches.
