Iridescent Lusterware HandPainted Cup & Saucer Set, ca. 1950s - image 1 of 7

DESCRIPTION: This cabinet cup and saucer set features a blend of artistic elements: gilt edges, hand painted florals and pearl iridescence. On a pale yellow background, each simple pink floral medley is distinct with an art deco style. The cup and saucer have a ¼” wide gilded rim outlined by a black thin line. Inside the cup, with unusual ring handle, is a pearl iridescent lusterware finish that glistens beautifully. The shape of the flat cup is simply curved with matching saucer.

WHY I LIKE IT: The simplicity of this set has a contemporary edge mixed with vintage gilding and design.

BACKSTAMP(S): Unmarked. Possibly Nippon.

CIRCA: Mid 20th Century

DIMENSIONS: Cup: 1-7/8” Base x 2-1/4” height x 2-1/2” rim plus handle. Saucer: 5-1/2” diameter

CONDITION: Very Good to Excellent with very slight and acceptable manufacturing anomolies.
