DESCRIPTION: At 132 years of age, this rare antique represents the beloved Royal Worcester lineage of fine porcelain pieces and collectibles. Since 1751 when Dr. John Wall and William Davis founded The Worcester Tonquin Manufactory, their efforts to establish high-quality porcelain production and luxurious pieces was a great success. Today, we enjoy beautiful Royal Worcester porcelain, both past and present, of spectacular and lasting design.
From a Private Collection, the antique Royal Worcester “Mask” Jug on blush ivory porcelain is a stunning masterpiece. Each detail is exquisite, every brush stroke is genius, and the abundance of gilt is very impressive. The “mask” forms the spout and together with the handle, heavy gold balances the fine brush strokes that outline this piece. The handpainted florals are perfection and easily recognizable as Royal Worcester blush ivory porcelain. Precision and artistry place this antique piece into a class of its own.
The antique porcelain blank is molded into a highly detailed dimensional piece that sparks interest and intrigue. The porcelain blank is accented with handpainted gilt and preserved under a soft glaze.
The results are captivating and a testament to talented artists that paved the way for today’s Royal Worcester designs and creations.
WHY I LIKE IT: This antique porcelain handpainted “Mask” Jug is stunning. It is a remarkable example of ornate artistry mixed with simplicity, a lesson in organic mixed with the intricate. A timeless and classic piece.
