Antique Noritake HandPainted Lusterware Pedestal Bowl with Handles, Japan ca. 1921 - image 1 of 15

DESCRIPTION: From Japan, this beautiful antique peach lusterware Footed Pedestal Bowl with Handles is a fine example of the art deco style. The pattern design is precise and features a repeating vibrant medley of florals offset with solid peach color.

Each panel alternates and is separated with gold & black outlines to further accentuate the exquisite choice of colors used in this pattern. In center, intricate black curves and dots create a perfect accent and balance. The footed base is wrapped in solid peach with a very fine upper trim of gold. The matching gold handles are tucked beneath the bowl and complements the brilliant handpainted pattern.

WHY I LIKE IT: As a stand-alone piece, this antique features design elements that create interest on a moderne contemporary shape. It is expertly painted under a glistening lustre that is exceptional.

Backstamp(s): Made in Japan (Noritake flower) (in brown) Found on exports to the USA made by companies in Japan subcontracted by Noritake.

CIRCA: 1921-1930s

DIMENSIONS: 8” dia x 10” handle to handle x 2-3/8” h

CONDITION: Excellent. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. Minimal gold rubbing, if any. Manufacturing anomalies are consistent with the era. Glistening lustre. Because of this lustre, photo glare is exactly that and not an imperfection.
