DESCRIPTION: This hand-painted antique Cake Plate features the fall harvest with a mixture of colors in purple and green hues. The Noritake Nippon blank was most likely painted in the United States by a very talented hobbyist/artist. The design features soft purple berries mixed with floral blossoms surrounded by finely detailed leaves and stems. The background color presents in shades of lavender that opens to a center of soft white. The top of the plate is finished with a satin glazing contrasted with the bottom of the plate finished with gloss glaze. The pierced handles are slightly curved and accented in gold; the rim features a ¼” border of gilding. The plate has a ¼” raised base that lifts it gently off the surface. The result is a charming dessert plate that will hold a lovely assortment of fall themed petit fours and chocolates while allowing the design to peek through and enhance the dessert presentation.
WHY I LIKE IT: The design is soft but regal and depicts nature with precision. I always serve desserts on seasonal plates and this one is an excellent choice to include in your personal collection of dessert serving ware. Add a silver charger to create a moderne layered effect.
