DESCRIPTION: This round antique handpainted porcelain brooch is a true gem. It hails from the late 1800’s when wearing brooches was a must for the stylish Victorian woman. This brooch is reminiscent of the works of porcelain art that appears on dinnerware, vases, serving pieces, and other items of the era. Created by talented china painter, this round brooch features pink apple blossoms surrounded by greenery and rimmed in gilt. ProngSet into a metal casing, the brooch has a c-clasp with no safety. This is a wonderful piece of history to include with your antique porcelain or brooch collection.

Why I LIKE IT: This particular brooch is larger and should be worn on a thick sweater or scarf, as the fastener is thicker than moderne brooches and you’ll not want to damage fine clothing fabric. Its size makes it a remarkable accessory for the moderne wardrobe.

The brooch would also show well in a display cabinet with your brooch collection.

Backstamp(s): Unmarked. Most likely Limoges France.

CIRCA: 1880s

DIMENSIONS: 2-1/16” diameter

CONDITION: Excellent. Very minimal spot of gold loss, no cracks, crazing, repairs. The metal casing is lightly scratched and consistent with the antique status of this piece.
