This bold Imari saucer in pattern 1409 is from Spode, one of the many English china factories that specialized in tea sets in the early 19th century. Imari (in England) comprises designs using cobalt blue, red and gilding, in innumerable combinations. This pattern has a large and dramatic central flower and six panels surrounding it, including other flowers and small birds in branches. Condition is excellent. The saucer is nearly five and one-half inches across.
