This rarity is a very early Meissen saucer in perfect condition with no wear. This type of flower decoration is assigned to the Meissen master painter Johann Gottfried Klinger. Pieces were decorated in this style only for a short period around 1740. The Chinese flowers and especially the three realistically depicted insects with their shadows showing underneath them relate very specifically to Klinger and his painting style. There are two parallel incised marks on the underside of the saucer.
