Caughley made thousands of tea sets, and oriental-style patterns were quite the rage in the late 18th century. This dessert plate from a tea service was embellished with gilding added to the blue pattern, and it is still in remarkably good condition. The dish, probably a plate from a tea service, is seven and five-eighths inches across, has Caughley’s very familiar S+ mark and will brighten up any display cabinet.
