The Japanese Imari colors of cobalt blue and iron red were a popular combination in England, especially when the theme of the decoration was oriental, such as this chinoiseries landscape with trees, rocks, temple and pagoda. This little mug or large coffee can also has a final touch of gilding in the scene. It is a little over two and a half inches tall and in perfect condition. Even the gilding shows no wear. An exceptional specimen.
