Eye-popping is the only word for this complete Staffordshire tea set in a knockout pattern that will brighten up your entire room. It consists of the lidded teapot (9.5 inches) along with its rectangular stand (7.25), the milk jug, the sugar bowl and lid, two large bowls or dishes (7.75), a dregs or waste bowl (6) and eight cups and saucers (5.5). Everything is here. All the pieces are decorated in purple luster, yellow, red, black, green and blue. Pattern number 44 is marked on the bottom of several pieces. The main motif is something like a sunburst in two shades of red, surrounded by a yellow band and finishing up in purple. This would look fantastic on display, and I hope you enjoy looking at it even if you don’t plan to buy it. I wish I had room for more photos. Condition overall is as follows: the teapot has a repair to the spout (shown), two unseen chips to the inside flange, a chip off the bottom edge that continues in hairlines on the bottom and a hairline going one inch up the side. The creamer has a vertical hairline on one side. The sugar bowl has a crow’s foot on one side and a small chip on the corner of the lid. One cup has hairlines in the bottom and another has a rim chip. The eight saucers, six cups, the waste bowl, the two large dishes and the stand have no damage. This set has a little normal wear but is really in excellent shape. Please check the photos. Occasional light staining. It did not get much use, that’s obvious. I suppose it looked so good on the shelf that the previous owners decided it needed to be protected.
