The porcelain factory in Worcester excelled in this very popular style of decoration, and they produced thousands of pieces for the British public and for export. This cup and saucer would have been part of a set, and one can only imagine what it looked like when it was still complete. Hundreds of design variations on the scrolling, flowers, birds and butterflies were created, and sometimes cups and saucers of slightly different patterns have been offered as a matching set. This set is a perfect match. It comes from the same service and has always been together. There is a very thin imperfection to the rim of the cup, barely felt with the fingers, and both are otherwise perfect with the original colors in great shape. Very slight gilding wear. The saucer is five and a quarter inches in diameter.
