The English imported millions of pieces of Chinese porcelain in the 18th and 19th centuries. Some were decorated in the British taste, while others used more traditional Chinese designs. This set, decorated with a diapered border in puce with panels enclosing various flower sprigs, has a kind of baroque feel but it is more Chinese in feel, so I think it might be toward the middle of the century, but accurately dating Chinese porcelains is a bit of a leap of faith. It is an early set certainly, and very attractive and colorful. Excellent condition.
