Here is a splendid antique porcelain cup and saucer with exuberant painted flowers that are typical of Meissen flowers at their finest. This “Deutsche blumen” style of flower painting took hold in the mid-18th century and is still fresh and exciting today. The set here, notable for its blue morning glory flowers with additional sprigs scattered around, are bright and cheery. The extravagantly shaped handle is especially nice. The set here has brown rims that show some wear, but otherwise in excellent condition. Date is about 1740-50.
