Here is a porcelain cup and saucer set with a cottage-type decoration that looks a little like theater curtains or swags. It also has some tiny green dots spaced around the middle section. It’s the type of set that would have graced the table of the middle range of customers in the UK or the US. Of interest is the number on the bottom of the saucer, indicating that this is pattern number 1 from this factory. It shows similarities with pieces from a number of factories, including Rathbone, Hilditch and Machin, but I haven’t been able to identify the maker for sure. The saucer is five and five-eighths inches across. Both pieces have slight surface wear from normal use—please see the photos. The luster sprig inside the cup is worn. No damage.
