Here is a winsome pair of Victorian figurines, the stalwart man holding a posy and his well-dressed companion a garland of flowers, each standing by tree trunks adorned with encrusted flowers. His tree trunk holds an urn and hers a pot of flowers. He’s obviously thinking of presenting his flowers to her, despite the fact that she seems to have plenty already! We can hope that everything turned out all right for them. This set was made by Minton and has pre-1842 date code marks. Most examples of this pair are polychrome, but this set has been allowed to retain its sculptural whiteness fresh from the kiln. They stand about seven and a half inches high. Condition is excellent. His posy is replaced and two small chips on the urn have been invisibly repaired along with his little finger. He also has a short firing crack on his back. The lady appears to be nearly perfect. Damage to the flowers is minimal. Occasionally blue Meissen crossed sword marks are found on the colored examples of this set. This is the only white set I have seen.
