Here is a stunning pair of Derby figures that exemplify the decorative preeminence achieved by this factory in the late 18th century. All the figurines were handmade, assembled flower by flower, petal by petal. This pair is in especially good condition, retaining the flowers in the posy which each character holds. They were originally modeled as candleholders and could perform that function even today, preferably with an overmantle mirror behind them. They stand about six and a half inches tall and have received only small foliage losses in their 200+ year history.
