This unusually large antique porcelain plaque is burgeoning with billowy roses set on a table. It is in the English style, and the signature of the artist, T. Simpson, confirms the source as Coalport. This is really a standout and because of its size would make a great impression in any room except perhaps a stateroom in Buckingham Palace! The porcelain is twelve by fifteen inches, and the frame extends the dimensions out to sixteen by eighteen and one-quarter inches. The painting is of a high quality, and Simpson is known to have signed and decorated similar flower plaques in precisely this style for Coalport in the late nineteenth century. The plaque is in excellent condition with no damage except for a small scrape to the color of the table in the center of the bottom edge, right next to the frame. The frame itself has been restored at the corners and at several places along the edges. There are no scratches to this fine decoration of roses in bloom.
