Here is a chinoiseries plate from the early 19th century that exemplifies the British taste for oriental styles. It is eight and a quarter inches in diameter and in excellent bright condition with only light surface wear from normal use. It is marked Wedgwood Stone China on the back. Please see the photos to assess. It has no chips or cracks, and dates from the 1820s. Wedgwood is known for its simple neoclassical patterns, but they could venture into other styles as well, as shown by this delightful oriental pattern, versions of which were produced by many other English factories, including Spode and Mason.
