Mr. Woosnam was obviously an accomplished independent painter of porcelain, and his rare signature has also been found on a Chamberlain's green-ground ice-pail, signed and dated 1832 and sold at Bonham’s in 2000. I think we can assume that he only signed the pieces that he was especially proud of. This vase has a very attractive panel of various flowers and is in exceptional shape. An impressive thirteen and a half inches tall. No damage other than a spot of wear here and there, and very little wear to the gilding. However, the green ground seems to have fired unevenly in places.
