A very attractive and appealing platter, and very large, at seventeen by twelve and three-quarters inches. The rim is molded with the Alt-Brandenstein pattern of a trellis and flowers, but the big splash comes with the vibrant and colorful painting. Obviously, the quality is superb. The mark on the reverse indicates that Meissen sold the platter in the white to be decorated outside the factory, and it may have been purchased by one of the factory artists to decorate in his spare time. This large platter is in near perfect condition, with only a tiny repaired chip within the gilt rim. In one photo I show a small blemish on the back that may have been enough of a flaw for Meissen to sell the platter to an outside decorator.
