A stunning bowl delicately molded with flowers in reserves surrounded by scrolls in a pattern that is unique to Lowestoft and not often found. The molding has a threefold symmetry that includes scrolls, branches, leaves and flowers. The cobalt blue border and flower sprigs complement the white porcelain, in a design created to resemble Chinese imported wares. It is six inches in diameter with a hand-painted blue diapered border. Unmarked and in excellent condition with only slight surface flaws. Geoffrey Godden reported that a saucer was found on the factory site with molding that matches this piece. A Lowestoft saucer with identical molding and painting was in the Bernard Watney collection. The cataloguer stated, “The moulded design on this saucer is most unusual.”
