An exquisitely made little late Victorian or early Edwardian (c1895-1905) butterfly in 18 carat gold, garnet , green stones are the colour of demantoid green garnets although we have not tested them and seed pearls.
Very crisp and well made and a very high-quality example of its type.
The chain is in 18 carat gold.
The butterfly was on a muff chain in 1900, but someone add it on a vintage chain, good idea !
