This is an unusual religious item. The medallion celebrates the 100th anniversary of the appearance of the Virgin Mary to St. Catherine of Laboure in Paris in 1830. The large 4 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch silver plate medallion of the virgin is mounted on a 6 x 3 1/2 inch rectangle of cobalt blue silvered mirror glass. The back is covered with felt and there is a metal hanger. Beneath the figure of the Blessed Virgin is the year 1830. There are no chips or cracks in the glass and there is only minimal loss of the silver on the edges of the placque. Dating to 1930, this is a wonderful and unusual religious article.
