Vintage Enoch Wood and Sons Wincanton Woods Ware England Dinner Plate Rust and Blue Rim - image 1 of 8

This is a 10 inch dinner plate in the Wincanton pattern by Enoch Wood and Sons. The plate is part of the Woods Ware line. The Wincanton pattern is a Transferware pattern that was made in blue and also red or rust. This plate is one of the rust Transferware pattern that has been overpainted by hand with deep blue, rusty orange, sage green and pale blue accents for a plate that is striking in its color and eye-catching in its design. There is a tiny and old chip in the edge of the rim. The back of the plate is marked Wincanton, Enoch Wood and Sons, England, Made in England and Woods Ware along with the British Registry number 557618 which indicates the design was registered between 1909-1910 . There is also an impressed mark made up of two letters with three digits below. There is also a % in deep blue under the glaze, a small comma-like mark in bright yellow, and a blue X under the glaze on different parts of the back.
