This cute little Dutch boy and girl make a wonderful pair! They are gaily hand cold painted on bisque without a covering glaze so that the finish is not shiny. They both have shoulder sticks on which to balance their buckets as they carry them home. There are no holes in the “sticks” to attach a chain, but there is a notch at each side of both sticks so a bucket could be suspended by thread or string loops.
The little girl has a sweet pink hat and lime green dress with a white over stir that. Her shoes are brown. Her face is painted with detailed eyes and her curly hair is yellow. She stands 5 inches tall. Her back is impressed with Made in Japan and an A in a circle. There is minor wear to the cold paint but there are no chips or cracks present.
The little boy is also painted with brown pants and a blue jacket. His bucket had is a light blue and his shoulder stick is thicker. He apparently is set up for a heavier load as his head is bent a bit downward, reflecting a heavier load! He is about 4 3/4 inches tall due to his stooped posture. Impressed into his back is the same Made in Japan and encircled A. He has the same minor wear to his cold paint and there is a small imperfection at the back of one foot that appears to have been a bubble in the mold as the edges are smooth rather than sharp like a chip would be and some of the brown paint of his shoe goes just beyond the edge of this area.
This is a cute little pair that deserve to march through life together
