This is a lovely master salt in the “Loop” or “O’Hara” pattern. The glass is flint glass with a wonderful bell tone ring. The master salt was made circa 1850-1860 in America. There are very tiny rim irregularities as is common with flint glass with its brittle character, but the glass is bright and clear. There are a few small bubbles in the glass as a part of the manufacturing process. The salt stands 2 3/4 inches tall and the opening is 3 inches in diameter. The glass is heavy and thick in this master salt. This is a lovely historical piece from the early glass making industry in America.
