This is a very old badge from Camp Wickaboag. Lake Wickaboag is located in West Brookfield, Massachusetts and has been a vacation and camping getaway for more than 100 years. Researching Lake Wickaboag showed early 1900's real photo postcards of families gathered in tents camping on the shores of the lake. It has been a location for creating memories for decades both for the locals and for the summer arrivals who swelled the small town's population to enjoy all that Lake Wickaboag had to offer.
This old badge is made of two pieces of yellow metal that are attached by folded tabs to make a pocket for a paper label. The face part of the badge is a frame that is done in a late Art Nouveau style of entwined branches. The back has a pin that has an old style open hook closure. There is a vestige of dark blue fabric still attached to the back that could have been an award ribbon. The original paper label is intact in the pocket. The badge is 2 1/4 inches by 3/4 inches. This is a wonderful memory of a summer in an idyllic setting long ago.
