Do you remember when the Ice Man delivered ice for your ice box? This 1952 coupon book was issued by the Pure Ice Co. in Cape Girardeau, MO and originally had coupons good for a total of 500 lb of ice to be redeemed bit by bit as needed. The book was issued to a Dr. Oebler on 11/28/1952. Three tickets, detached but still inside the booklet, have the same number as the number inside and on the cover of the booklet. The cover of the book warns the buyer not to accept it if it has less than 5 pages of coupons. Each coupon is good for 25 pounds of ice. The front cover has some fountain pen ink smears. The interior of the front cover has detailed instructions on how to redeem the coupons and the rules of ice delivery! This is a very nice old memento of a time gone by...but also a reminder that the ice man cometh not all that long ago in rural America.
