This sweet pin was likely given by a World War ll soldier to his mother. This pin is on its original folded paper card that is entitled Mother Dear. There is a simple verse on the bottom of the card that reads: To the best and bravest mother The finest friend I know Take this little gift Love and blessings with it go.
The use of the word bravest in the rhyme gives the hint that this may have been a soldier's remembrance gift as he leaves for war. The white mother of pearl base is carved into a leaf pattern. The word Mother is written in gold tone wire work and secured to the back. The closure is a simple C hook without a security feature. The back is otherwise unmarked. The pin is 1 3/4 inch in overall length.
