This vintage ash tray smokes while a lighted cigarette rests in the mouth. The happy dog with a patchwork decoration is a remnant of the times when it was in vogue to smoke. The nostrils have holes that allow smoke to escape, to look like the dog is smoking. The ash tray has a label that indicates it is a souvenir of Illinois. The base of the ash tray has a foil label marked Japan and under the glaze is the number 6979.
The ash tray measures about 4 x 4 inches. There is some paint loss around the neck and cigarette rest, but the rest of the paint is intact over the face.
