This first aid kit was put together for the Girl Scouts by Johnson and Johnson in the late 1940's to 1950's. The kit is in a great metal tim with green, cream and red graphics including the trefoil Girl Scout insignia. The front lid of the kit has the address of Johnson and Johnson and there is neither a postal zone or a zip code, indicating that this is an older kit that predates this practice. The bottom of the tin has two belt loops so that the whole kit could be attached to the waist of the scout when out hiking or camping so that it would always be ready. Open the kit and you find a list of the supplies that were originally in kit.
The original supplies in the kit include: Bandage 1" x 10 yards. This is present but has been partially used. Bandage 2" x 10 yards. Missing. In its place there is a package of 2 inch bandage compresses with 2 compresses present. Adhesive 1/2 by 21/2 yards. Missing. Sterile Gauze pads 3" x 3" Missing. In its place there is a package containing a 4 inch compress bandage. Burn Ointment, 1/2 oz. This is present but has been used. Antiseptic 1/8 oz. Present but used. Bandaid adhesive bandages. Missing. Amoply Inhalants. There are 4 but the kit states that it originally included only 2. First aid folder. Missing.
In addition to the original contents, there is also an iodine swab and a 1/2 oz bottle of tincture of Merthiolate with a rubber stopper.
The kit box is in good condition with great graphics. The contents are some original and some replacement, however these kits are rarely found with any contents, so this is a great find. The box measures 4 x 6 inches.
