This note pad was an advertising piece from Kennedy's Broadway Service in Alton Illinois. The cover sports a pin-up by Gil Elvgren entitled Ankles Aweigh. The back cover has a 1943-1944 calendar on one side and the interior of the back cover has a visual chart on how to identify officers and enlisted men by rank in the Army and Navy. The note pad has been used as a travel journal for a trip to Florida via Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia with odometer records, gasoline and oil purchases and a log of room, food and miscellaneous expenses. There are several pages that have names and addresses and of particular note there are addresses for two gentlemen in the armed forces. One is in the Navy and the other is in the Army. Their addresses change as the pages advance to track their service records. One was even injured and spent some time in a military hospital but then recovers and the last entry for both men is when they apparently were shipped outside the US, one on a ship and one overseas as both addresses are changed to APO or Fleet Postmaster in New York City.
Nice condition with tight stapled covers and cover art is in very good condition. Interior is, as noted, used but with some historically interesting entries.
