This advertising item is a sewing kit from Philip S. Bloom Co in Chicago, Illinois. This company sold lingerie in Chicago during the 1940's. An internet search revealed an advertisement for the Uni-Slip sold by this company in the May 20, 1940 Life magazine. The kit has advertising for this company with their address as 529 S. Franklin Street, Chicago, Illinois. There are three trademarks also noted on the exterior of the kit. These are Phil-Maid, Uni-Slip and Walk-Aton. I have been able to determine that the Phil-Maid and Uni-Slip are lingerie trademarks. The kit is 2 1/2 inches long. The cap pulls off to reveal a stem that has two spools of thread, one white and one black. There is a small cap on the end of the interior cylinder that comes off to reveal a place to store a needle and there is a needle present. The cylinder is capped by a creamy white thimble. There are no chips or cracks in the case. This is a nice vintage item for sewing collectors.
