This is a cake basket or fruit basket in the Ripley #10 pattern produced by Ripley Glass Co. It can be seen illustrated in a Ripley (Pittsburgh) catalog in Welker's Pressed Glass in America. The patent dates for this basket are 1881 and 1882. The glass is non-flint. This piece stands about 5 inches tall and the bowl has a diameter of 9 1/4 inches. The bowl of the basket is etched in each quadrant with either cherries or grapes and the rim is etched with a fern leaf pattern. The basket is complete with its original white metal handle. There is a very tiny flake on the edge of the outer rim and there is minimal edge roughness on the interior rim of the basket and the interior rim of the base. This is a lovely item and would display very nicely and could be used on your table. The pattern is very similar in appearance to the Mascotte pattern also produced by Ripley.

Item ID: 0807108

Wouldn't this be a beautiful addition to your buffet or luncheon table.
