This lovely stoneware vase in blue and white sponge decoration would make a wonderful centerpiece in your country kitchen. The vase is in excellent condition for its age. The vase was acquired at auction 18 years ago in White Hall, Illinois and is most certainly from one of the Illinois potteries that flourished in this area from the early 1800’s to the late 1940’s. At one time, White Hall, Illinois was known as Pottery Town.
The vase has no chips, cracks or crazing. The vase stands just under 8 inches tall and has a 4 inch mouth. The entire vase has a softly ridged exterior that makes for an interesting appearance beneath the sponge decoration. The vase is unmarked as is typical of the wares from the Illinois potteries of this area. The White Hall Pottery produced many utilitarian vessels and also produced sewer pipe and tile.
