This is a wonderful commemorative plate of Admiral Dewey, hero of the Spanish-American War. The plate is a product of West End Pottery Co., East Liverpool, Ohio, which operated from 1893-1938. The mark on the reverse was used from 1893-1910. The plate is 8 1/4 inches in diameter and has an embossed scrollwork pattern around the gentle subtle scalloped rim. The rim of the plate is painted a lovely light blue with a thin gold rim accent. The center of the plate is finished with a tinted transfer of the Admiral in his military uniform. There is overall crazing over the front and back. There are no chips or cracks. This is a wonderful historical collectible.
