Minerva Bread Plate Boston and Sandwich c. 1870'sMinerva Bread Plate Boston and Sandwich c. 1870's

This is a bread plate in the pattern Minerva aka Roman Medallion. This pattern was produced by Boston and Sandwich Glass Co. in Sandwich Massachusetts in the 1870's. This is a non-flint piece. The plate has closed handles with the goddess Minerva in the central plate. The words "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread" ring the outer rim of the plate. The plate is oval in shape and measures 13" x 9". There is one flat 1/2" chip on the underside of the edge of one of the handles. This chip does not distort the top surface of the tray or handle. This is a very wonderful item that is not that easy to find. It would make a wonderful addition to a collection.
