A wonderful Vintage ceramic planter is presented depicting a gorgeous Art Deco stylized woman. Although not marked Hull, she is pictured in the book Hull Pottery - Decades of Design by Jeffrey B Snyder; on Page 122 and is aptly entitled "Dancing Girl."
Circa 1930’s-40’s, this ceramic pottery planter is a perfect vintage decorator’s touch to any home. It measures 7 ½ inches tall and 5 ½ inches wide at the widest portion which is her flared and pleated skirt. It is 2 ½ inches deep. The planter portion is at the back (see photos). The background coloration of this Art Deco styled planter is a creamy off white. The woman depicted is posed in a typical deco pose, leaning slightly back. Her hair is blond and styled in a typical Art Deco hairdo. Her face has explicitly detailed facial features. The top portion of her dress is painted soft pink as is the bottom of it, which is pleated and flared. Her outstretched arms are holding her dress. Her shoes, which are also visible, are pink! The details are fabulous and realistic. The back of the plantar has shadings of the same pink that is found in this stunning woman’s coloration. She truly looks like a movie starlet of the era! The entire vintage planter is equally gorgeous from the front as it is from the back. The bottom is embossed 966 USA. As stated above, although not embossed Hull, many older Hull pieces were merely marked USA and the mold number, which this piece is. BE SURE TO SEE ALL PHOTOS.
Although intended as a planter, this vintage ceramic is so wonderful it can even stand alone as a figurine!
The entire Vintage ceramic planter with its Art Deco inspired styling, is in mint condition free of any damage whatsoever including chips, crazing, paint fading, etc.
